The Transitional Movement Philosophy

TM

Do you deal with some sort of nagging pain on a day to day basis and are afraid going to the gym could make it worse? Transitional Movement can help relieve these concerns AND tackle fitness goals, simultaneously. These goals don't have to be mutually exclusive and I am here to bridge the gap between rehab and fitness.

This could be a previous injury, chronic pain, joint discomfort, or movement limitations. Everyone also wants to be able to exercise without it further aggravating anything they already are dealing with. This is where many trainers miss the mark...and this is where I step in. Any trainer can make you sweat, but are they actually making you better? Along with manual therapy techniques, I develop and coach well rounded exercise programs to alleviate these issues of dysfunction while still smashing fitness goals. Here, we look to develop lifetime health and fitness.

I have helped many to improve their quality of life through exercise. I am able to provide a high caliber service that is tailored to a clientʼs unique goals regardless of whether those goals are oriented towards body composition, health concerns, athletics, pain reduction, rehab, or just to live a healthier lifestyle. My personal goal as a trainer and massage therapist is to always continue to learn and be able to assist my clients in achieving their goals in a: fun, educational, and at times, challenging setting.

In my opinion, the fitness industry is plagued with inaccurate information that is unfortunately generated for profit and publicized using savvy marketing techniques. I strive to filter out all of the inaccurate information and only employ training and nutrition strategies that ensure LONG TERM success. Uneducated trainers are giving the industry a bad name by injuring clients and acting like it is not their own fault. I aim to change previous notions of what training should be like and clients are astounded when they leave training sessions not feeling beat up, but feeling much better than when they walked in.

Treating the symptoms of pain is ultimately the same as using a band aid. Here, the belief is to target the causes, not just treating symptoms, by respecting the body as a system and working to implement better strategies for movement. Although my job is not to diagnose such pain or discomfort, the fundamentals of the training methods I utilize are based in my responsibility to create a safe training environment that respects each client as an individual. Why not have your massage therapist also be your personal trainer? Someone who understands your concerns and sees you on a frequent basis, rather than once in a while. Someone who also understands that massage is only part of the equation. Passive treatments alone wonʼt give long term results. You have to work to create lasting change. Many of us know how great leaving a massage feels and then hours later this feeling can fade. I use manual therapy skills to help alleviate pain & tension AND to create an ideal training environment. Certain scenarios are outside of my scope of practice and I have trusted health professionals to refer to in these cases.

I look at my profession as a way for me to help clients achieve this way of living, while continuously surpassing both short-term and long-term fitness goals. At Transitional Movement, there are no distractions as each client is trained in a personal and private setting to ensure comfort and optimum efficiency. Most of us are dealing with daily challenges and time restrictions; I strive to develop an effective training schedule for each client that not only addresses those challenges, but, embraces them in a way that helps alleviate any associated negative implications. Nutritional guidance and planning for personal workouts are additional services I provide, as I know it is a much bigger picture than just a one hour workout. I hope to be able to guide your fitness journey and witness your improvements along the way.
